Alarm for Justice in Albania: Another socialist MP ordered to pay $20,000 on charges of slander

It’s spreading like a plague, unstoppable before nothing. The justice system is proving that democracy in Albania has fallen. An autocratic regime is ruling with iron fist.

Albana Vokshi is getting really rich. Not that she is not already loaded, but now she is extorting money from her political opponents and is laughing in their faces.
The court ordered Tuesday another socialist MP, Artan Gaçi, to pay Vokshi $20,000 for damaging her reputation when he and other of his colleagues accused Vokshi of favorizing her domestic partner Arjan Tartari’s companies to win energy and construction bids and her involvement in various illicit activities when she occupied the position of Berisha’s economic adviser.
Albana Vokshi, a DP member of parliament, filed lawsuits for ten socialist representatives and the prospect seems she is going to win them all.
The court system in Albania is working only one way. But it’s not a question of justice. It’s a demonstration of force that proves that DP officials are “untouchable” by law enforcement agencies and institutions.
It is the clearest evidence that democracy in Albania has crumbled and an authoritarian regime is established in the country. The judiciary is a paramount pillar of this regime and  is obviously doing the job well.
Nobody knows how it will end. While the autocratic regimes are toppled all over the world, the international community is allowing the establishment of such a regime right in the heart of Europe. But one thing is sure! People cannot endure the yoke of another dictatorship upon their necks. It’s time perhaps that “the internationals” realized that.
