WikiLeaks: Department of State knows Berisha has issues and affiliates with him

Postuar në 28 Gusht, 2011 07:15

The publication on Wikileaks of new confidential cables sent to the Department of State by the U.S. embassy in Tirana unveil some hard truths about the support granted to prime minister by the American officials, although they are fully aware of his fits of rage, whimsical behavior and other issues that are not appropriate for a prime minister. A number of political analysts have strongly maintained the American officials’ bias in albanian politics, in favor of the prime minister, particularly with the arrival of the new ambassador, Mr. Arvizu. The events of January 21, 2011 where four people were shot dead by the National Guard officers proved that squarely. It also showed that the whimsy of Mr. Berisha had rubbed off on the ambassador too, for when Mr. Rama refused to call off the homage protest on January 28, Mr. Arvizu took it quite personal and reacted whimsically by calling the prime minister “a real statesman”.

WikiLeaks showed Albanians that United States seem bound to put up with Berisha’s whim for as long as it takes, despite the establishment of an anti-democratic system in the country stemming from his actions.

Berisha's whimsy rubbed off on the ambassador? That's a great way of putting it.
